Casio DW-6600 - front glass and backplate work

Today my vintage Casio DW-6600.
After applying polarizer filer on a screen it was time for front glass polishing. It was done using sand paper (starting from 1500, and then 2000), after that I used cerium oxide with water solvent. Woollen felt on a driller with a bit of cerium oxide with water made the job done:

I am not 100% happy since there are still some light "dents" visible on a screen. I should use more 1500 sand paper. Since it is a G-Shock I decide to keep it like that. 

Having all prepare I polish case back which looks superb now:

Watch is ready :)... I am waiting for new watch straps. The current one (I suppose still original one) looks to bulky on my wrist.

Casio DW-6600 polarizer installation

Today I was working on my one on of a newest buy which is my 1st ever G-Shock. Let's take an occasion to introduce how it happen that I decide to go for one. 

I was on a pursuit for some shock-resistance piece. I know that my wrist is very small but I decided to go for a G-Shock. At 1st glance I was thinking about square Casio s5600 - radio controlled with solar charging. The only way to get this piece is ebay.com. All s5600 has to be transferred from Japan, which is not a problem for me. But also in the March 2020 we had (in fact - we still have) economical crisis caused by coronavirus. 

The $ went sky rocking ! I decided to put on hold my s5600 and start to look for some alternative with solar and radio. There was G-6900, but i do not like so much its looks. 

I was surfing the net and saw classic DW-6600 wore by Seals! On ebay there was one piece with quite a bad condition:

I checked caseback and it said JAPAN:

Renovation began: new watch bezel, new ring for watch strap, new caseback seal. 

The LCD screen did not show nice contrast. I decided to do something with that. I bought polarizer for some smartphone, measure LCD screen, draw its shape using CAD software. Having that I was cutting off polarizer film (in total 3 attempts):

Final cut and peel off sticers from polarizer shown no damage to the film, I glue film to the watch screen and final results is shown below:

The digits are much more crisp and vital. I love that. 

Final show-down will be (I hope) done tommorrow - I need to polish front glass. 

The beginning... Zeppelin Nordstern

It has all started on March 2018 when I bought my first automatic Zeppelin Nordstern 7560-3. It was a big day for me.... after hours and hours spend in front of the youtube searching for belowed model. I was searching for vintage style brand that is worth having.

Zeppelin Nordstern equipped with Miyota 9132 in my hands since 03-2018. Due to this moment watch is running fine. Maybe it is not so frequiently used and morst of the time it has been sitting in watch winder, but from this one it all has started. 

This model has also saphire front cristal, which is not so much famous along Zeppelin watches. As far as I was able to find - this model is not longer produced. 

My watch is gaining ~40-50 seconds every day. Maybe it is a lot, but watch hasn't been opened by any aftermarket watchguy.

After some summer months leather watch strap broke showing lot of cracks. I decide to change it to 'tag-heuer' style strap.
